A Brief History
The Founder and president of LCN Mr. Deepak Lal was former Director in ICCC as well as a social activist who had lead many relief operation in India and in International level. One day in 2008, Deepak and Anuja was crossing from Juggi Sapera basti in Rangpuri and suddenly stopped his vehicle and surprised to see children playing and collecting garbage by naked hands and eating the waste dumped by the people. He asked the children about why they were not in school; they said they had never been to school and just pick rags for survival. He was overwhelmed to see the condition of the children left in the hands of the cruel reality. He decided to do something for their betterment of the children’s future. He start a Non- formal education Center (NFE) in Rangpuri and also a sewing center for the poor wives who didn’t do anything. To solve the problems, they established Life Counts Now as a Trust in 2008, with the aim of Child and Community Development. The organization’s registered office is in Dwarka, New Delhi

MISSION OF LIFE COUNTS NOW: LCN Mission is Educating, Equipping and Empowering underprivileged children, women and Youth.. :
LIFE COUNTS NOW advocate for every child’s right to Education there by emphasizing family preservation, family strengthening and quality foster care. Our work ensures the child’s fundamental rights as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
GOAL: To promote education among the underprivileged children empowered women and youth in India and to achieve dignity, security and equity among the poor and marginalized for self-sustainability.

Building leaders for tomorrow through education, empowering women for self-dependency and equipping youth for self-sustainability. The basic core value is restoring hope for the hopeless.
How Life Counts Now Works:
LIFE COUNTS NOW is committed in educating the underprivileged children and providing vocational training to both men and women– cosmetologist, hardware &mechanic, sewing. We have at present 234 centers spread all around the Northern part of India educating more than 5000 students. LCN also running Tailoring & Cutting center in Rourke and in Delhi. We have train 139 women in Cosmetologist Course and assist in setting up their own parlor.
The LCN empowered and equipped the women so as to pull the women in a position with par to the men of the society. It will make the women financially dependent and will fight the stereotype concept of the society that women are incapable of earning.
We are also committed in empowering the men through vocational training course. The course equipped them with skills of mobile & computer hardware.
The organization also works in the health sectors especially at micro levels. LIFE COUNTS NOW organizes Medical camps, Relief operations. The organization has also organized seminars, workshops, Networks with Government officials and other NGOs and, Awareness assistance to the community people for Government schemes and providences.
LIFE COUNTS NOW provides internship opportunities to fresh graduates and post-graduates who wish to pursue a career in the field of community development. The goal of the internship program is to groom the interns to take up leadership positions in the development space in future while improving the gender balance in CARE.
